- Azúcar Cubana – a great band playing Latin music on our stages since 2007.
Azúcar Cubana is small in its size but "big" with its sound. The band consists of five musicians and it is an excellent combination of traditional Cuban music with the latest arrangements. Its repertoire represents the variety of the Caribbean styles such as salsa, son, merengue, cumbia, bolero, cha cha cha. Since its establishment, the band has seen huge success and played at different festivals, in clubs and at many big social events not only in Slovakia but also in the Czech Republic and the near-by Vienna. In late 2007, Azúcar Cubana launched its first album called ‘Como la primera vez’. Songs from this CD are played also on the Slovak Radio...
2011 saw some personal changes: the now ex-pianist Yoanna was replaced by a talented piano player Roland Kanik; and the wind-instrument section was strengthened by a renowned Slovak trombone player Martin Haas. After a short break, the band is again making great performances and impressing its fans not only with new faces or different sound but also with slightly renewed arrangements.
